One of the best unknown indie artists I've found all year. Beautiful vocals, thick and melodic guitars. Solid bass and inspiring rhythms. Ashen has come out of nowhere with an awsome debut! All the technique of a major lable but with the passion of indie.

ASHEN! Remember this name because the band will be huge someday. A sweeping wall of melody with sweet vocals and an unpredictable structure. ASHEN is a band that keeps you guessing and interested for a long time. I propose this to all people that like music - support this band now and join the ranks of those supporting good bands that deserve attention. Either that or you can jump on the bandwagon and pretend like there in the beginning in a year when they are all over MTV!Mighty fine album! Top 10 of 2000!

If you're anything like me, you love to discover great young bands with sounds that are familiar and yet elusive. Look no further. No Other Comfort would be a brilliant effort by many established bands with its highly polished content melodic and layered. Their sound is dreamy and yearning, yet in a way that is entirely their own and never spirals down into shoegazing self-indulgence. They'll remind you of a million bands- Siouxsie, The Cure, etc- and their singer sounds a lot like Maria McKee, but this is a band that is never derivative on this CD. Buy this and support a young band that deserves support!
